Lakeshore Children’s Center: A Children’s Peace Academy is a mission of Lakeshore Avenue Baptist Church. We welcome children of all racial, religious and ethnic backgrounds. Our center is licensed by the State Department of Social Services. Children are accepted in our programs from the ages of two – 12 years (preschool – fifth grades).
We are a full-time pre-school that operates year-round. Our hours are Monday through Friday from 8:00am to 5:30pm. We accept admissions throughout the year, subject to available space.
We also offer an after-school School Age Program (SAP) with pick-up from three Oakland Public Schools. We follow the OUSD calendar for minimum days, holidays, teacher in-service days. Care is provided from school release times until 6:00pm. This program is for children from TK through 5th grades.
Philosophy and Program Statement
The aim of the Center is to provide child care in a spiritual atmosphere of loving concern, where a child may discover him/herself and parents feel a true sense of support in their parenting.
The Center sees children as natural, active learners – individuals with unique skills, abilities, interests and needs. The Center believes that the role of teachers is to meet each child at his/her own level, and to facilitate his/her own natural process of growth. Toward this aim, we seek to assist children in their academic and personal growth as they do their work of self discovery and social development.
Visiting the Center
The first step in deciding to enroll your child in LCC is an appointment to visit our Center. The Director will walk you through our facility, introduce staff, and discuss our philosophy, including the schedule of the day.
The best times to tour are Monday through Friday, 11AM-12:30PM, and 3:00-4:00PM. To schedule a visit, please contact the Center directly.
